BRINGING THE OKLAHOMA RIVER TO LIFE
The OKC Boathouse Foundation believes the Oklahoma River has the power to change lives – and help Oklahoma City become a stronger, healthier community. In just a few short years, Foundation supporters have seen their vision come to life as people of all ages, from all parts of the city, have become involved in rowing, kayaking, dragon boating, running and cycling at the Oklahoma River.
National and international racing events and festivals including the 2008 USA Canoe/Kayak Olympic Trials for Flatwater Sprint, the international 2007 Rowing World Challenge and the annual OCU Head of the Oklahoma have garnered national and international media attention. Today, our city is becoming known for our river and our river sports. With the addition of two new boathouses, we will soon be known for an iconic row of boathouses and racing venue unparalleled in the world. The passage of MAPS3 means we will soon have a world-class Whitewater Rafting & Kayak Center on the river, along with permanent grandstands, lighting and more!
The future of the Oklahoma River grows more exciting with each day. We invite you to learn about all the ways you can get involved – then join us as we continue building a city with a river at its heart!
